If your computer starts Windows, you can add the Windows XP Recovery Console as a startup option from the Windows environment. To install the Recovery Console as a startup option, follow these steps:
With Windows running, insert the Windows CD into your CD drive.
Click Start and clickRun.
Type the following commands (where X: is the CD Drive letter), and then press ENTER on your keyboard.
X:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons
Note There is a space before /cmdcons.
Click OK and follow the instructions to finish Setup.
Note This adds the Windows Recovery Console to the Windows Startup folder.
Restart your computer and select the Recovery Console option from the list of available operating systems.

How to Repair XP When Some files missing
Just get a xp cd from your freind or from whatsoever boot from xp cd
steps 1.Place xp cd and press restart .
step 2.Boot from cd menu appears press any key if u dont find the option when you restarted just restart and press del or f2 or f1 key to enter bios settings and change the priority to cdrom first and then harddisk and restart and
do step1
In next press enter and then after first menu
enter xp setup and "press R repair xp"
4.wait some minutes after repairing
you will get the xp back bye bye
